Mike Meyer’s unique background includes extensive executive experience in the C-Suite of a Fortune 250 company and as a general manager of a rapidly growing medical business in Latin America & Canada. He also serves as a Director on both for-profit and nonprofit boards. Mike is a certified and highly experienced Executive Coach. In his coaching engagements, he leverages his experience as both a line executive and HR leader who worked with the board to develop and select executives for key leadership roles. He knows what it takes to be successful.
Mike uses a warm, direct approach to help senior leaders see what they otherwise may not – their towering strengths as well as the areas that may be holding them back. But this is just the first part of the coaching process. As that famous executive coach, Bruce Lee, said, “Knowing is not enough…We must apply.” Through small experiments, both in the coaching session and in the real world, Mike helps leaders add to their repertoire of behaviors, making them more agile. Mike believes that increasing leadership agility is key for exceptional executives in times of change.
Mike works primarily with clients who are VP and above with large and medium-sized employers. He has coached executives in the pharmaceutical, medical device, industrial, chemical, banking, insurance, health care, retail, and consumer package goods sectors. He has worked with clients in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He was previously EVP of HR at Ecolab, and prior to that had an international career of 25 years with Abbott Laboratories. Mike has lived and worked in most regions of the world. He has extensive experience directing complex global M&A integrations and leading organizations through significant change.
Mike is currently Board Chair of the Nature Conservancy, and also serves on the boards of Global Minnesota and Orange Tree Employment Services.
Education and Credentials:
Mike has an MBA from Thunderbird Graduate School of International Business, where he graduated first in his class and received the Alfred Knight Scholarship Award. He obtained his coaching training through College of Executive Coaching and has achieved the PCC level of certification through the International Coach Federation. He has been certified in and has developed expertise with numerous assessment tools, including Hogan, EQi, Leadership Effectiveness Analysis, MBTI, and several other 360-degree feedback instruments.
